Eidsvoll
Manor - One of the great sights of Oslo,
the Information Guide gives you some info about this
impressive manner that stands as an impressive testament
to the Constitution signed at Eidsvoll (at the southern
tip of the lake), where 112 prominent citizens of
the national council proclaimed a new constitution
on the 17th May 1814.
This striking and expansive building is held close
to the hearts of the citizens of Oslo, and the people
of Norway. Aside from being a splendid mansion to
visit in its own right, the Eidsvoll Manor also houses
the Norwegian Constitutional Museum.
It should be noted that guided tours are compulsory
in the main season.
Travelling to this Oslo attraction is quite easy
even though it is outside the city. From Oslo you
follow E6 towards Trondheim and turn right when reaching
the sign of Eidsvollsbygningen (after a 45 minute
drive). There is free parking for cars and buses.
If you prefer to travel by train, the connection
between Oslo Sentralstasjon and Eidsvoll Verk operates
every hour and the journey time is approximately forty
five minutes. Eidsvoll Manor is about 15 minutes walk
from the station. You'll also be able to avail of
a direct bus service (854) from Gardermoen Airport
also runs every hour.
