This
page gives you some information on Oslo and the Norwegian
Folk Museum is a great and perfect representation
of Norway. Perhaps one of the best aspects of this
museum is the open-air display, which includes wooden
barns, stables, storehouses and dwellings from the
17th - 19th century. In fact, one of the most famous
aspects of this museum is the 800-year-old Stave Church
from Gol.
Getting to the museum is quite easy. If you wish,
the bus no. 30 to Bygdøy leaves every fifteen
mins from "Jernbanetorget" (by Oslo Central
train) and from the National Theatre, and it goes
to the to the bus stop by the Folk Museum.
There is a ferry from Rådhuskaia to Dronningen
during the summer months and then you'll have a ten
mins. stroll to this Oslo museum. At Norsk Folkemuseum
- the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History you'll
have a most interesting time.
Norway background and culture is displayed with one
hundred and fifty traditional houses and buildings
and numerous exhibitions from all major regions of
the country. Throughout the main building of this
Museum, you can see various home and traditional crafts
being demonstrated. These include sewing, weaving,
and the making of national costumes and other traditional
items. There are also many ongoing exhibits and displays
throughout the summer, and you can also see traditional
folk dance, concerts, etc.
