Oslo
Airport – Oslo is served by two Airports
- Gardermoen and Sandefjord Airports. Oslo Airport
Gardermoen
is the main international airport in the country of
Norway. Opened in 1998 it is a state of the art building
and you'll find it spacious and gleaming and of course
it is a very well sign-posted building which makes
all the services easy for visitors to find. The location
of the Oslo Airport is about 50 kms to the north of
the city. Getting from the airport to Oslo centre
is simple with an Express Train and Bus service ready
to speed you in.
The throughput of passengers at Gardermoen Oslo Airport
is over twenty million a year and the airport, so
recently built, has the capacity for more passengers
and so you passage through the airport will be smooth.
The second airport for Oslo Norway is also located
110kms to the south and and it is called Sandefjord
Airport or Torp Airport. The low airfare airlines,
Ryanair and Wizz also operate to this airport and
this has introduced much traffic to Oslo and the surrounding
areas.
There are various ways to travel to and from the
airports
in Oslo, and we outline some below:
Airport
Express Train
This is the simplist and quickest option - take the
Express Train from Oslo Airport (Gardermoen) to the
city centre to Central Station - Oslo S - and it leaves
the airport every 20 mins or so. The trip takes only
about 20 minutes so this is an easy option. You can
purchase tickets at the airport station.
Torp Airport to Oslo is a longer
journey and there is no rail service to the city.
However there is a bus and it goes pretty well based
on flight arrivals that will transport you. The journey
to the centre of Oslo is about one and three quarter
hours and the cost is around 150 NOK. The service
is run by Torpexpressenfrom and you get the bus right
outside the easy to navigate terminal building.
Airport Express Bus (SAS transport
service) (Gardermoen)
This service goes every 20 minutes on all days of
the week. It goes via the following route to/from
the airport - Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel via the
Oslo Bus Terminal, Clarion Royal Christiania Hotel,
Helsfyr and Furuset.
This trip will take around forty minutes. You can
get further info by calling Trafikanten 177 or +47
815 00 176 from outside o Oslo.
NSB – Norwegian State Railways
(Gardermoen)
All NSB Regional trains operating Skien-Oslo-Lillehammer-Trondheim
go via Oslo Airport Gardermoen so this is an option
also with NSB Local trains Kongsberg-Eidsvoll - depending
on where you are going. For timetables and more info
go to www.nsb.no.
Airport Express Bus (Norway Bus
express) (Gardermoen)
This bus leaves two times every hour - Sørkedalsveien
by Majorstua skole via Sinsen and Grorud. Another
bus goes about three times an hour from Bekkestua
via Smestad and Østre Aker vei. Another route
is Ski, Oppegård, Mortensrud on to Jessheim.
Airport Taxi (Gardermoen)
The prices for Oslo Taxis you'll find quite attractive
compared to some other cities and they are all priced
the same. Coming from the airport you'll notice that
the Oslo Airport Taxis have a logo "Airport Taxi"
on the side of the cab.
